You don't need a driver-updating utility because Windows has one built-in. If you then want to install it again, here you can download Synaptics drivers. So I figured I needed a driver of some sort, but how do I determine which one to download? The issue doesn't come when the system is shut down and turned on again.
I've got another issue though. Simply put, this utility combines System Reset with OEM Recovery Partition Restore into one bootable USB Rescue Drive. up vote -2 down vote You are right, the problem is all because of windows 8.1 upgrade. The drivers are then restored separately from a second bootable USB Recovery Drive using the same software.

But when the support guy came with the motherboard, I asked him to reflash the BIOS (I could've done it, but didn't do it as my laptop was brand new).

We can't repeat that enough. Seems like is a common problem in all the Asus, mine is N53sm. Check it since there is a newer Realtek driver. Mirco 20 November, 2015 Reply Hi man…great work…really amazing!!! I'd never find all these drivers without your help. The time now is 22:07. It helped me fix the touch pad controls on my Asus UX32V that were disabled by the recent Windows 10 November update.
